Case Studies
Former Gas Showroom, Pembrokeshire:
Our client commissioned Jackson Drilling to undertake a site investigation in order to obtain shear strength parameters for foundation design as well as soil contamination data.
The desk study (undertaken by others) highlighted several historical sources of contamination and a borehole drilling investigation was undertaken.
The factual site investigation report detailed the geotechnical findings and contamination data (particularly WAC analysis data) which was used to asses the cost for the removal of arisings from the foundation excavations that took place on the site. By submitting such data our client was able to make significant cost savings on foundation design and the removal of excess spoil to landfill.

Former Workshops, Bruton, Somerset:
In order to obtain relevant planning consents our client was instructed by the local authority to undertake a full ground investigation of a site formerly used as an engineering workshop, with several oil tanks still existing on site.
The site investigation comprised of a desk study and a borehole drilling investigation with several boreholes being installed with monitoring wells. The investigations also detailed the in-situ shear strength values of the underlying clay deposits which would later be used in foundation design.
The desk study and factual site investigation report detailed the geotechnical findings as well as the levels of contamination encountered which aided the consultant in designing the remediation strategy of a hydrocarbon 'hotspot' found at the site. On receipt of the report the local authority granted planning permission for a small residential development.
